December 2009

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!

The Christmas party is just around the corner and we haven’t much time to prepare. I can hardly believe it’s December already! My goodness! Where HAS the time gone… The holidays are upon us and there’s no time to waste. You can find all sorts of key information in this month’s edition, so don’t miss a word or you might miss out.

Having just been through Thanksgiving, I have to say thank you to every one of our program presenters of 2009. There were a couple I wasn’t present to hear, but all in all, it’s been a good year. I’d also like to thank the membership for all their encouragement and comments over the past four years. I’ve felt privileged and blessed to be part of such a caring, considerate group that genuinely likes to get together and share. I also have to thank our board members and officers for putting in so much time and effort to help the club run smoothly. It’s a healthy club, so we definitely have much to be thankful for.

Going forward, let us remember the past fondly, encourage each other to plod ahead into the coming year boldly, and show anyone who passes through what makes our club so special. It’s the same thing today than it was when I first darkened the doorway nearly six years ago… the people. Some come all too infrequently, demographics flex with the seasons, but the social core is what really makes the difference.
Take the opportunity this holiday season to pull someone aside and let them know you appreciate them. Don’t let time wind down without taking stock of the things in life that matter most. Be Santa Claus to someone who desperately needs it, and give from the joy of your heart. Serving others positively in any any capacity benefits us all. Merry Christmas!
